Nelson Landscapes

Shari and Luke Nelson, Co-founders of Nelson Landscapes

​

We are a mother and son team that co-founded Nelson Landscapes. It all began in March 2020 during the pandemic. We had extra time on our hands and decided to make the most of it by helping friends and family with their landscaping needs.  We quickly realized how much we loved helping home and small business owners create outdoor spaces they enjoy.  We believe that everyone deserves beautiful spaces, no matter how small the project or the property.

Shari Nelson


I graduated from Kansas State University with an engineering degree. After a long career in supply chain at Hallmark Cards, I decided to take the leap and to pursue my passion of creating beauty and adding joy to peoples’ lives through landscaping. I grew up on a farm in north-central Kansas and am a lifelong lover of plants, gardening and getting my hands dirty. I am thrilled to work with my son, Luke, and build our business together. I also appreciate our amazing contract employees who provide their talent (and muscle!) during implementation. I continue to expand my knowledge and skills by taking Horticulture classes at JCCC. I’d love to talk to you about how to transform your outdoor space!

Luke Nelson


I provide input into landscape designs, lead implementations, and provide overall direction – especially finance and marketing - to the Nelson family business. I’m a finance major at K-State and return to Kansas City during the summer and breaks to work on our many projects.
